By following these procedures on a regular basis floors will be free of soil and heavy dirt deposits and have a bright, clean appearance. Always place "Caution" signs in easy-to-see locations at entrances to area where floor is being cleaned and scrubbed.
Under normal conditions, a clean surface can be maintained by damp mopping with a neutral detergent such as Research Products SUPASTAR or NEUTRACLEAN.
Alternatively floor maintainers such as SHINER may also be used. SHINER, ideally suited to supermarket floors and unsealed tiles, vinyl and rubber, cleans and restores floors, assisting with the buffability and mark removal. It also lowers floor maintenance costs by reducing the stripping cycles by adding life to your polish.
If any loose dirt is prevalent, sweep the floor with a broom, fringe mop or vacuum.
Mop or machine scrub the floor with a non-residual detergent such as Research Products SUPASTAR, NEUTRACLEAN or SHINER diluted at 20ml/litre in a bucket of hot water and apply to surface or dilute at 1 part detergent to 100 parts fresh water when auto-scrubbing (use an Oates White Polishing Floor Pad, or soft nylon brush). Increase the concentration for stubborn stains.
IMPORTANT: Harsh soap powders, high alkaline cleaners or excessive quantities of water should be avoided.
To remove build-up of soil, black heel marks, or damaged floor finish from the surface of floor clean floors using an automatic scrubber or standard floor machine.
Move furniture. Work around heavy furniture which cannot be moved. Tilt filing cabinets and put them on blocks.
Begin machine scrubbing at the corner farthest from the entrance.
Follow instructions for using cleaning solution and fill Auto Scrubber, or mop down using standard mopping equipment.
Machine scrub the wet area using an OATES® Blue or Red Pad or the Flamingo Auto Scrubbing Pad. The auto scrubber will squeegee and vacuum the dirty solution.
Note: If cleaning with a single disc machine, repeat all the steps above using a wet / dry vacuum to pick up soiled solution.
After the floor dries, replace the furniture.
Spray Buffing maintains the floor's appearance and cleanliness while helping reduce the stripping cycles by extending the life of your polish. It picks up dead finish and dirt, replacing it with a smooth, clean and glossy finish. It also levels and fills scratches.
Attach Oates Red Spray Buff Pad to the buffing machine.
Inspect the room or area to be spray buffed to determine where attention is needed.
Starting at the farthest corner from the entrance, spray a 1m x 1m area alongside the buffer using a spray cleaning solution such as Research Products SHINER diluted to 1 in 15 parts water (apply the solution in a fine mist and spray over the area, not directly onto the floor).
Buff until glossy and not tacky. Move the buffer evenly from left to right, then right to left. The first pass will spread the solution evenly over the floor. The second pass will produce a high gloss.
Repeat same process until entire floor has the desired appearance.
Dust mop entire floor area that was spray buffed.
Note: Only use clean floor pads (if product starts to build up on pads, too much solution is being used). Do not move buffing machine too fast.
Inspect the room or area to be burnished to determine where attention is needed and always test solution and pad in an inconspicuous area first and follow the surface manufacturer and solution label instructions.
Dispense a small amount of spray buff, in front of the machine solution (choose a solution suitable for the type of surface and pad being used eg. Research Products SOLITAIRE). Burnish in a straight line and spray every two to three steps.
Repeat same burnishing operation until entire floor has the desired appearance.
Dust mop the entire floor area that was burnished.
